Rumour
A fin built for high-performing surfboards. It works well in surfboards that have moderate hold in relation to narrower tails, deeper concaves, and channels. It is not for the more traditional-looking fish. Most often, the Rumour is a good place to start if you are unsure of where to begin. A short fin in stature with a wide base that provides a good sense of reliability for performance surfing.
The idea with this fin was to heir on the side of simplicity. We wanted to build a fin that could be reliably thrown into most hi-performance surfboards. The crossover of twin fins with shortboards is where this fin seems to fit most.
The unique feature of this fin includes a wide base, short stature, moderate rake, and a thin tip. We found it hard in the past to find a fin that combined a wide base with a thin, raked tip. The wide base of this fin is what gives the initial hold when starting a turn, and the thin tip allows for a finessed release in the final stages of the turn. Not to be confused with an uncontrolled slide.
An easy one to gravitate toward. Of note, the Fathom is the larger counterpart to this fin for people heavier in stature or looking to use a Rumour shape in shorter, wider surfboards.
Last mention, this fin is what is most often used with twin fins meant to ride very large waves as well.
